Server Status


All is well. . . . with 1.1.  There's still no 1.2 release for bukkit but there have been over 100 test builds so far, each one squishing a few more bugs.  Although we have to wait for that update the good news is all the developers of the major plug-ins we use have updated to 1.1-R6, which means they're all still paying attention and haven't abandoned anything.


Our server is running stable on 1.1-R4 right now, R5 and R6 were releases that cleaned up the code inside bukkit and required all developers to update their plug-ins.  I haven't rolled up to R6 because we're stable and its mostly a code clean up release and not a patch for anything.


I think once the 1.2 bukkit release is official we'll have a pretty smooth and quick transition over to it!  but I have no ETA.

Good News!



The creative world is open! Everyone should receive creative mode when they enter the world. your inventory and xp level will be saved as you enter and restored when you leave. you can't make a zillion diamond blocks and bring them back either.


Heroes is back! and you can use wooden tools now! and other stuff. Cylusmaxii and I are exploring all the class files but in the mean time everyone defaults to the Citizen class. you should be able to chop wood, mine, farm, and enchant, all for XP. In keeping with the theme the Citizen class is limited to leather armor and wood/stone weapons. tools are not limited. over the next week we'll be rolling out a class structure with class limits and bonuses. Heroes is enabled in ONLY the main world. doing things in the other worlds should yield no xp or skill gain.


WorldInventories now works in all worlds. turns out its naming is case sensitive, that was the yml mistake i was making. this means in each world you will now have your own inventory, XP from the main world is preserved for your return.


Catacombs! On the frozen reaches of the icy lake to the North West of Barter Town explorers have discovered a dangerous new catacomb. Divination has revealed 2 levels and over 100 rooms with rich rewards awaiting adventurers equipped well enough to brave its frigid depths. <---- RP!

Updates

We are now updated to Bukkit RB v3, which is the current one.  I've also updated the Train Carts mod and it seems to have fixed the tilted cars issue.  Holla if anything seems wonky now!

Bukkit 1.1 RB is out!

Here's the news from their website:


     A new CraftBukkit Recommended Build (1.1-R1) with Minecraft 1.1 support is now available.
     Along with Minecraft 1.1 support, this build contains many new, cool things for plugin
     developers to play with, (critical exploit) fixes and improvements. As always, please backup
     your server before updating, just in case.


     Will plugins break with this build?
     Provided the developers of the plugins you are using are keeping up with the development
     of Bukkit, all your plugins should work fine.



What's mean for us? Well, we can FINALLY all upgrade to 1.1 tonight.  When I get home from work I'll start unrolling all the plug-ins we're using and upgrading them to 1.1.  The most important one is the our train cart mod.  The portal mod is from the same developer so it'll probably be ok if the other is too.


So some time tonight if you log in and it says you have the wrong version, that means its all up and running and it's ok to finally step your client to 1.1.

Up Down Up Down Up Down

So I think I finally tracked down the most recent map bug.  Apparently someone else on our hosted server was using the default port number for the map service.  I updated the config for dynmap with the new port, and now its working.  only problem is the previous links to the map no longer work.  Here's the updated link:

Bukkit recommended build

There's still no recommended build for 1.1 and bukkit.  I'm monitoring it almost hourly but it seems like they've run into some pretty big problems with the biomes.  There's an updated Dev build out, but nothing for us yet.

The map is working!!

I got the map working again!  Turns out the .jar that controls the map generation was completely corrupted.  Unfortunately we lost the high detail renders from the past 2 days.  I'm going to make sure the software is stable for a few days before I manually start that massive render.
